How to upload stuff to the comments

Posted in General by Aakash on October 29, 2009

Question: How can I upload your images/videos/sound files etc. directly to the comment section?

Answer: You can’t.

Here’s why.

The free, hosted wordpress installation does not allow additional plugins to be installed for security reasons. Hence, we will not be able to let you upload your image/video/sound file directly into the comments.

Instead what we would like you to do is be a little ingenious and upload the image / video / whatever elsewhere. There are a lot of free image hosts / Video hosts / file hosts available on the internet. Upload your stuff anywhere and provide the link to it in the blog.

I suggest you create a thumbnail (400 x 400 at most) of the image and then embed it to the comment section and link it to the main image to avoid any problems in case your main image is big.

There are ways to embed these remotely hosted files into the comment section. Some of you already seem to know how to embed videos. You can embed images in a similar way by using the [img src=”insert the url here”] format and replacing the [ and ] wih < and > respectively.

Hope that helps.

Yeah, it worked. Except it’s not a particularly graceful workaround.

Well I’ll just leave the link to a video I made. Almost everyone here has seen it given the publicity I did on the blog and facebook 🙂 http://micanvas2k9.blogspot.com/2009/10/archita-trisal-mica.html

Alas..at last I am finally writing a blog though i can’t really say how it feels like. Some people say its liberating n some blah (which i was never able to understand anyways) and many often have also lamented me for not “Blogging” which they labelled as “The thing to do”. Believe it or not I was called names (outdated, not happening to name a few) by my friends and cousins but nevertheless i stuck to my decision of not joining the blogger’s park ! But today after the inspiring sessions by Tarun sir and Akash sir (and definitely for the marks) I am forced to blog.I had to kind of struggle to arrive what to blog about and this indecisiveness was not because I din’t know what (or how) to talk about but rather i had so much to say that i really couldn’t arrive at one. Then finally i decided to share my most recent Diwali experience back at home (yes..home is a small town called Ranchi) where i won a Samsung TV.
Allow me to start from the beginning..it was Dhanteras and we (mom, dad and I) were just back after the Dhanteras shopping to our shop and waiting for dad to wind up the shop. In comes a guy holding lottery tickets each worth Rs.200.My parents were just not interested but i just wanted to give the gods a chance to smile down upon me. Enthusiasm as always is contagious and similar thing happened here. My dad bought five tickets and boy was i happy 🙂
Diwali night..almost 12 midnight..diyas burning bright, crackers burning , ohh the lovely festive mood and oh so high diwali spirits. We just completed the Laxmi-Ganesh pooja and were getting ready for more fun when the lottery guy came and asked us to come to his shop where the lucky draw was about to happen. My sister and I accompanied by one of my shop staff went there. The first draw was done and the no.announced. I checked the tickets and to my utter shock and joy, discovered that ticket #3 had that number. We were now the proud owners of Samsung 32 inch LCD screen TV. Time for more crackers and more celebrations.

Guys i know i went a bit overboard but repressed emotions have a way of surfacing in ways unknown to human nature 🙂 so please excuse me. Hats off to UDE course for having made me blog. Now definitey my friends wont be complaining.

    In the name of CGPA!!

Here is a post I had written some time back on my blog. Internship days saw a sudden spike in my blogging behaviour (dont ask why!) and this post was written after observing a couple for a few days on my way back home each day.

    A love like that…
I saw them again today. That makes it thrice in a row. Its always the same place..that bent in the road, under the street light in that calm and quiet Officers’ Colony. She is in her late twenties, looks a lil’ overworked, yet elegant in her own simple ways. He is in his early thirties with years of struggle and pain bringing in a maturity usually reserved for much later. Two very simple souls. Almost alike in their backgrounds and modest upbringings. Yet a big difference making them a world apart.

She stood on the pavement just below the street light, leaning gently on his scooter. Yes, he on his scooter. A specially designed one for the physically challenged individuals. A few passers-by notice that which she chooses to ignore. Her face is lightened up, looking into his eyes. He is engrossed in sharing the irrelevant details of his day. Smiling and listening…she continues to do that to her heart’s fill, never mind the second looks of those around. A serene peacefulness – almost nearing bliss seems to have enraptured her. I am sure she must be feeling a hundred emotions that moment. Fortunately sympathy for him doesn’t figure in that list. More importantly, he knows that too.

Just an average regular couple. The sharing and caring, the sweet nothings and the unnecessary fights. I wonder if their life is just as normal as any other couple’s. I pray it is. But somewhere, in that small moment, I felt a much stronger understanding and maturity that must be strengthening the bond with each passing day.

We don’t often see miracles around us. Or is that we don’t want to anymore? Miracles are seen by those who believe. You don’t really have to wait till Christmas for that..some times, the simplest and commonest of things in life are also the biggest of miracles for mankind.

Sounds like a fairy tale… and well described, I could actually picture the emotions on the girl’s face…

    well something from my blog!

Bolder lines and life of colour,
larger canvasses with stories of valour,
deep and dark the crevice runs,
I will stop when this road turns

Glowing stars of a deep blue sky,
looking for a path and harder I try,
language of flowers throws me astray,
Not just the leaves but my mind is at sway

Lower and deeper inside the earth,
where often darker thoughts take cover,
a lonely eve still waits for her lover,
and that’s the beginning of this tale’s birth…
